On September 5, 2024, SHMA hosted an unforgettable Sports Day at Urban Turf, where employees came together for an evening filled with action, camaraderie, and healthy competition. From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the venue buzzed with excitement as teams battled it out in four high-energy sports: Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, and Futsal. It was a day not just for sports but for team spirit, fun, and building stronger connections across the company.
Cricket: Fast-paced Action and Thrilling Moments
The highlight of the evening was the Cricket tournament, where four teams – each with their own unique spirit and energy – competed in a round-robin format followed by an eliminator round to determine the finalists. Each match consisted of five overs, with only one bowler allowed to bowl a maximum of two overs, keeping the game fast and exciting.
Teams were grouped as follows:
- Team A (Shadab XI) – Dress Code: Gray
This team included star players like Shadab, Muhammad Aqib, Nafees Chagani, Maaz Ahmed, Muhammad Ubaid, Muhammad Subhan, Usama Aquil, Romail Mutahir, Daniyal, Muhammad Jawwad, and Masharib Shaikh. - Team B (Noman XI) – Dress Code: Maroon
Sporting maroon, the squad included Noman Usman, Zain Arif, Mustansar Baig, Ibrahim Shah, Nazil Nooruddin, Abdul Wasay, Salman Mukhtiar, Zaid Rehman, Hamza Iftekhar, and Gul Afridi. - Team C (Kazim XI) – Dress Code: Blue
Led by Kazim Reza, this team featured Hammad Shehryar, Ali Khan, Abrar Somroo, Areeb, Sahad Moorani, Ali Muhammad, Nawazish Nooruddin, Hasan Ali, and Ali Zain. - Team D (Umar XI) – Dress Code: Black
Dressed in black, Umar Irshad’s team brought together Saeed Zafar, Faraz Haider, Jansher Khan, Shariq Zia, Khawar Jawed, M. Shareef, Asim Ali, and Tabish Ahmed.
The excitement built up during the group stages as each team played three matches, showing off their cricketing skills and strategies. As the eliminator round unfolded, the top two teams from the group stage advanced, giving them another shot at qualifying for the finals.
