    My journey into the Actuarial world began long before I took any exams. It had always been my desire and ambition to see the Actuarial profession blossom here. When I started, the field was still relatively new, with experts few and far between. Even at a young age, I aspired to help change that, knowing it would have to begin with me.

    My journey truly began in 1977 when I passed all the Actuarial examinations of the Institute of Actuaries. A year later, in 1978, I was admitted as an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries after meeting the minimum age requirement. Through grit and determination, I became a Fellow two years later. As the years passed and my experience grew, I was admitted as an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, later becoming a Fellow of the ICAEW and ICAP, and one of the founding members and president of the Pakistan Society of Actuaries.

    In 1986, I helped found Sidat Hyder Morshed Associates – a financial consulting firm created to provide personable, cutting-edge, and vital financial services to clients both locally and internationally. We aimed to build a firm that was best-in-class, not only in the services offered but also in the value we delivered.

    Now, nearly four decades later, the name SHMA has become synonymous with the Actuarial profession, with many Actuarial professionals in the region starting their careers at SHMA or one of our subsidiaries. This achievement has helped me realize my life’s ambition – to elevate and popularize the Actuarial field and to deliver high-value services.

    As a founder and Actuary, I remain committed to delivering exceptional Actuarial services while continuously evolving and improving. At SHMA, we’ve built more than a firm – we’ve created a family that supports each member in reaching their full potential. SHMA is the culmination of my life’s work, and I am proud of how it has all come together.

    What was the most valuable experience you have gained?

    Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse clients, not just locally but globally. Collaborating with some of the brightest and most experienced Actuarial minds has helped me sharpen my skills and expertise, providing me with a unique perspective.
